“The twisted inversion that many children of immigrants know is that, at some point, your parents become your children, and your own personal American dream becomes making sure they age and die with dignity in a country that has never wanted them.”
This work provides a snapshot of the lives of undocumented immigrants. It’s such a strong narrative, and it especially highlights the perspective of these people during the recent administration and the frenzy of ICE trying to deport them. It’s impossible to put into words the affect this perspective had on me. This is an accessible piece that I think most would benefit from reading.
