A heart breaking and disturbing novel that is absolutely an essential read. Toni Morrison certainly does not spell it out in a way that is “digestible” to a white audience but from the complete perspective of the enslaved and how they love, experience trauma, grieve and persevere in the face of the absolute inhumane treatment of their people. This is a book for everyone regardless of race, gender, background. A book for humankind.
