ljrobt 's review for:
Red Sparrow
by Jason Matthews
Jason Matthews would not have sold this book if he hadn't been CIA.
I really wanted to like it. I love a good spy novel, and I liked threads of it. The fact that he had been CIA and knew all the tradecraft made it interesting in itself. But the characters were underdeveloped, and the propaganda was SO STRONG. Constant. The guy in this book is SUCH a Mary Sue. Still, I liked Dominika, and it was mostly good.
The idea of the sparrow program is really interested me and I would love to see someone else explore that.
