In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

3.0

2.5 but rounded up. Enjoyed One by One far more (rated that a 4/5) and would definitely recommend that one over this.

This one was intriguing at first and atmospheric - it had a good start that hooked me in … but then just kept going downhill.

I didn’t like the last third at all, felt totally pulled out of the story and the person whodunnit was way WAY too obvious.

Figured out all the little reveals way before they happened (not a brag I normally suck at figuring this stuff out it was just obvious). Characters not very believable - they should have been written as 15/16 year olds the way they were acting, I just can’t believe grown ass women would ever act and care about the things they do.

However to it’s credit it did have nice pacing and bits of it were well done. I think this was her first book and possibly her weakest
