The Maid by Nita Prose

4.0

Many thanks to Netgalley for the Advanced Reader's Copy!

3.5 stars, rounded up!

Molly the maid (Molly Maid... get it?) works in a nice hotel. She tends to blend into the background and people don't pay her much attention. It isn't said straight forwardly but she appears to be on the Autism Spectrum. She takes things very literal. People take advantage of her naivety sometimes. On one seemingly normal day, she goes in to clean a room and finds a rich guest in his bed, dead.

To be completely honest, I wasn't feeling this at first. I don't know why. But I'm glad I kept going because while it started off slow, when it picked up, it really picked up. I enjoyed the plot and I enjoyed the cast of characters, even the "bad eggs". Everyone added to the story and the different types of characters really helped round things out. Molly was a memorable one, for sure.

There were a few twists that I saw coming but there was one that definitely caught me off guard. Maybe I'm the only one who was surprised, I don't know.

Overall, once it picked up, I quite enjoyed this!
