This was a tough one for me to listen (audiobook) to. Maybe because as the story unfolds I already knew what would happen. That said— I read it for spiritual growth not fun. From that viewpoint, here are some things I appreciated about the book:
Understanding Islamic culture and jihad better.
The picture of Martin and Gracia’s marriage. I was so inspired by the way the Lord encouraged them via each other. And by Martin’s indomitable faith and courage.
The testimony of the Lord’s faithfulness in daily needs.
The importance of knowing the Word and having it hidden in our hearts.
