Trigger warnings for Love and Other Natural Disasters include: homophobia and cheating.

I don't always enjoy books with very flawed main characters. But this one was good. And I say that because in books where the main character has flaws, they don't always necessarily realise they are flawed, or don't always acknowledge that fact. But in this one Nozomi is very self aware and understands that the world doesn't work like it does in the films, but wants that anyway.

I also liked the character progression and the character growth too. It was fun to see them growing as people and making better choices. But also saying that, they made a lot of really badly thought out decisions throughout the book. Starting a fake relationship to make their ex-partner jealous is never a good foundation for then building a real relationship. And in light of that, I'm not surprised that Nozomi fell for the person she did in the end.
