David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
4.0
I spent four months with this novel, reading just a few chapters a week. It ebbs and flows, sometimes goes quickly, sometimes drags. There are a lot of characters, a lot of really odd coincidences, and a lot of misfortune, some redemption, love and loyalty and treachery and just about everything else you'd expect from a 900-page mid-19th century British novel.
I hadn't read Charles Dickens literally since I read A Tale of Two Cities in high school. I'm one of the many readers who loved Demon Copperhead, and felt like I needed to visit the source. So here we are. Four months later, we're done -- overall, yes, I'm glad I read it.
