Lots of depth to the world building, enjoyable main characters, very plot heavy with a lot going on. I’m taking off half a star because I felt like the main female character and the secondary male character did most of the character development, where I didn’t feel much character development from the main male character, other than his love for the FMC. I felt satisfied with the way the author wrapped this book up and didn’t feel like they left a ton of loose ends unlike their book an enchantment of ravens. It did however make me instantly want to know how the story continued with the cliff hanger so I’m happy to know there is a novella and look forward to reading it soon.
Moderate: Death, Violence, Death of parent
Minor: Mental illness, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Sexual harassment
On the content for the minor content warnings scene where FMC is chased/harassed by men who it is implied want to do sexual assault/violence to her down an alley way. Nothing progresses with it as they are murdered by another character before they can hurt the FMC. For mental illness there is a scenario in the book where FMC is gaslit about her mental health state, the big bad antagonist tries to break her mind (failing, but she pretends it works) and dumps her at a mental health ward that is suggested as being abusive & offering patients up as sexual encounters to the highest buyer. She escapes on the grounds of the property before she can be brought into the facility against her will.
