I Hate to Leave This Beautiful Place
by Howard Norman
The essays range from beautiful to boring. The quieter stories are not helped by the verbose and heavily detailed writing—they get smothered by cranberry scones and orange juice. However, the idea of place and the importance of some unconventionally idyllic settings really shines; there’s no quiet lives to be had, even in quiet places.
