Wow, Catherine! You did it again girl! This was definitely one of your best.
We met both of these characters in past books and definitely learned a bit about them prior to this novel. However, everything we had preconceived about them or their pasts got blown out of the water by the prologue 🤣. Oh sweet Arden! This girl went through something so traumatic. I just wasn't quite prepared. After learning about her past, I understood all her previous behavior. Same with Lincoln.
These two went through some MAJOR character growth in this novel, and I was here for it. I love that much of their relationship centered around this growth as well. Uh, it was so beautiful to read. I absolutely love these two together. Lincoln had me swooning the whole stinking book 🫠😍. I mean this man y'all 🥵. And Arden, she was such a fighter. So independent, strong, and fierce. It broke my heart that she felt the need to distance herself to protect her heart, but boy, am I so glad she figured everything out in the end.
And Catherine, the true mastermind that she is... the twists were twisting. I did figure out part of the ending, but I definitely did not guess the majority of it.

“It was beautiful, my little spot in the world. But it sometimes felt like a beautiful exile—the one place in the world where I was truly safe. But that safety could lock you in a place.”
⚠️Warning⚠️
language, low to medium spice/adult content, ptsd, death of a parent (offpage and onpage)
