Caught in the Axe by Daphne Elliot
4.0
This is my first book by Daphne Elliot and I will reach for more of her books!
I want to start by saying that there is representation of Celiac disease and it is done very well and it was well appreciated to see this health representation done in a book.
Now on to my review.
This is a Ex's brother with age gap romance which I am a sucker for an age gap romance!
We have Owen who takes a leave of absence from his job in Boston to return to Maine to help his family sell their Lumber business. In walks Lila who is his brother's ex girlfriend that is hired to help him with the files. Lila is smart, sassy, strong willed and is working towards her dream of attending college in New York for her Master's degree. Owen and Lila have an undeniable connection to each other that they can't deny. But will the small town gossip, long distance and age difference work against them?
I absolutely adored Owen in this book! This man is a cinnamon roll who has a love language of acts of service. When Owen finds out Lila can not eat certain snacks this man goes and orders special gluten free snacks just for Lila to be able to enjoy in the office...I mean **swoon**. I love how Owen communicated with Lila what he wanted in their relationship. I however, got quite irritated a few times with Lila because of her excuses for them not being together no matter how many times Owen told her he supported her no matter where she went to college. All in all I really enjoyed this book especially the banter, spice and family!
Thank you to The Author Agency for the arc of this book in return for my honest review.
