Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! I think the characters are actually quite likable and their banter actually had me cracking up throughout. I would also love to see an animated adaptation as I feel the grotesque descriptions would lend themselves well to a visual depiction. I think it’s fair to warn people that there are flashbacks and time-jumps in this book, so much so that I actually paused and checked that I was reading the right book lol. I think the flashbacks work really well and present the information in an interesting way, but I imagine it might not be for everyone. In short, I think the main characters are enjoyable , the villains are detestable, and (almost) everyone gets what they deserve.
Minor: Animal cruelty, Suicide attempt, and Cursing
For those who have read Cutter’s “The Troop”, the animal cruelty is wayyy less. I’m talking a single scene. But it’s there so I figured a warning might be appreciated for anyone on the fence. And I know cursing sounds a bit silly, but some of the phrases were really jarring to me, enough so that I thought to tag the book. But it’s a really good read!
