Summer Sky by Lisa Swallow

Good but predictable. I like new adult novels that are plot driven and not all sex randomly thrown in but this had too much backstory for my liking. Sky and Dylan don't interact very much, you get a lot of them thinking about each other and not enough of them actually being with each other in my opinion. You know they are attracted to each other and want each other but neither of them actively try to do anything about it. You know what's going to happen - he's famous so that's going to get in the way of their relationship and you're just wondering when that will happen rather than if it will happen. Most of it was fun to read but it kind of felt like it was drawing on too long. But because Dylan is supposed to be the lyricist of his band, he says some great, poetic things so that's a plus. There's this big plot twist at the end that I think was pretty unnecessary and I don't like that it makes you need to read the next book to find out what happens - you can definitely write a series without cliffhangers like that. This discovery also changes the way Dylan is perceived and written throughout the rest of the book even with all of the conflicting perspectives from the other characters. The ending was not great. Honestly I think it took away from the entire book. It was alright but I wouldn't read it again.
