Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram

This book felt incredibly important to me in terms of representation in YA lit. I loved the young adult perspective of what it means to be Persian and not feel completely "at home" in the United States OR in Iran. I loved learning about the history of Iran and the food. I was pretty much hungry throughout the book craving every dish he described. Additionally, the focus on mental health throughout the book and the representation of two male characters (young & old) with depression was so refreshing and felt like a direct challenge to the toxic masculinity that sometimes surrounds mental health for teenagers.
