Unhinged Alphas
by Lenore Rosewood
I may have said that Feral Omega was more 3.5 stars, but this installment definitely garners the full 4 stars. Yet, I still have some of the same issues with this second book as I did with the first, even if we do put a little more meat on the bones of who the characters are and get a little more depth in the world. Once again, I find that the characters spend a quantifiable amount of time in their heads and on missions that carry them outside the group or in pairings, making it significantly harder to grasp this "found family" and shared moments of intimacy which is such a fucking shame because when the author gives us those moments, they're fucking delectable. Seriously, virgin Wraith, who wants to be more man than monster, who craves all of Ivy's touches and doesn't understand why she would want to, melted me completely into the floor. Or even if it was to tease both Ivy and Whiskey, seeing Valek taunt Whiskey with teasing touches and husky words... omg, just slay me, okay? Cuddly movie piles, dead and more dead. The glimpses we get of future character setup for the next harem? GRABBY HANDS. I want them all and immediately, please and spanks. But for these things to be sparse and so far in between layers of inner monologue and thinly veiled subterfuge and "missions" made me want to throw mild tantrums because I craved it so much more.
All of that said, I will be waiting with bated breath for Psycho Pack to drop. I need to see how this ragtag team actually becomes a family, and how this feral little omega and her Ghosts finally let down their walls to let that happen. More so, I need to see how they're going to rain down hell on those who have done them wrong and how these "allies" they've made along the way are going to come into play in their lives and potential future books to come.
