Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day by Seanan McGuire

3.0

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite. I think my main issue was that, as a novella, it was just too short. The plot went by so fast, and I was fascinated by the world building with the ghosts and witches and time and how all that worked, but I wanted more time to delve into all that and flesh it out. I just never really got invested in the plot of the ghosts being stolen so I never felt emotionally connected to the story. I liked Jenna and Brenda and Delia and Delia's parrot and all that, and the last few paragraphs with Patty were so great, but I guess I just wanted this to be a fleshed out novel where I'd get more of the world and magic system and have time to get invested in the characters. But this is still a Seanan McGuire story, and I always enjoy her writing on some level, so it's not like reading this wasn't enjoyable. I just think I could've liked it even more if it had been longer.
