The City of Stardust
by Georgia Summers
Beautifully written prose, no doubt about that. Even the violence is beautiful and glitters and matches the feel the cover and title brings.
But there are so many gaps in the storytelling. It leaves out too much to let you get to know characters, so it reads like a pretty but superficial tale. This is a story that could have been stretched out into a longer novel or even duology to give these characters and their stories more justice.
I'm okay with the omission of information for a good reveal and even jumping around in storytelling. But there is so much potential for depth that isn't touched.
The world and fantasy type has so much potential, it's a shame to get in a cliffs note version.
