This book was incredible, not only in its own right, but particularly as a sequel. So many second books suffer from being boring and feeling like the author is just moving chess pieces into the right position for the finale. In this book, it felt like the *characters* were the ones moving the chess pieces around. There were multi level plots, some of which paid off and some which failed disastrously, there were unresolved threads from the last book that got picked up magnificently, there were new characters and parts of the world that were fleshed out, and there were so many shocking moments that had me screeching out loud as the narration played. Truly blown away by the series. Going to take a bit of a palate cleanser but then immediately dive into the finale.
