Strong, solid debut! The topic was just sad- I thought the author did a good job at not sensationalizing violence against the missing black girls and tying in the supernatural aspect to the mystery while still keeping the believability there with the reality of how little attention missing black girls and women get in real life. I thought ultimately this was more thriller than horror (and I did want just more horror/supernatural stuff included). The author's note at the end about some of the actual history of events that happened in Johnstown were super interesting and I will be Google sleuthing later to learn more.
