”it is a dangerous thing to unbelieve something only because it frightens you.”

i want to start off by saying thank you so much to the wonderful lexi for buddy rereading this with me!! you’re one of my favorite people to buddy read with and i can’t wait to do it again sometime <3

”i’ve sometimes come to believe as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

anyone who knows me knows about my undying love for heartless ! i read it over three years ago and it’s still my favorite book of all time to this day. i am a very big alice in wonderland fan (have been since i was very little) so this book holds such a special place in my heart.

”sometimes your heart is the only thing worth listening to.”

everything about this book is tragically perfect. the plot is amazing, the pacing is great, and the setting is so fascinating. i love wonderland so much. it’s just such a fun, interesting world and i never get bored reading about it. my favorite thing about this book is the characters though. nothing beats them!

”how different everything could have been if you’d thought to ask me that before.”

cath. the girl with no choice. one of my absolute favorite characters. i cannot describe how much i love her and how i wish things turned out different for her. my girl grew up always being told how to dress, how to act, who to love, she never got the chance to choose. everything she had was always taken away from her. she was so very desperate for something to call her own, whether that was a bakery or a kind-hearted boy, she just wanted something she could have for herself without having to worry about her parents taking it away from her. and as soon as she had the opportunity, it was gone just as quickly. my heart hurts for her and no matter how many times i read this book, i will always cry for the ending i wish she’d gotten.

”you have my heart, jest. i don’t know if you deserve it or not. i can’t tell if you’re a hero or a villain, but it doesn’t seem to matter. either way, my heart is yours.”

jest and cath deserved so much better. they were so deeply in love and were willing to give up everything they had to be with one another. cath finally had a secret she could have all to herself, to love and cherish, and it was ripped away from her. jest loved catherine with all his heart; he just wanted to live a long, happy life with her. i will never forgive marissa meyer for ruining my babies lives.

”over everything, i choose you.”

i would talk about how much i despise the king, cath’s parents and mary ann, but i’m afraid i’d never be able to stop. they were all so insensitive and inconsiderate, never letting cath speak her mind or have a choice in the decisions they were making about her life. i will never be able to forgive them.

”she is a rose, jest. lovely on the eyes, yes, but such thorns are not to be ignored.”

i’ve read this book four times and i’m sure i’ll read it plenty more in the future. i highly suggest reading this book !! it’s heartbreaking, but absolutely beautiful. <3

”i was saving this for later, so i must have been saving it for you.”

love,
sumi
