A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher
5.0

Eerily delightful. Equally light wit as it is macabre. Main characters, heroines, and heroes that are extraordinary in the sense of many fantasies but are rather ordinary with great relatability. The brief bit of genuine romance is between a couple in their 50s, subtle but not chaste. It was honestly refreshing not to have a teens or young adult romance element.
Again, T. Kingfisher has a child main character, but it is anything but a juvenile tale. It deals in themes of trauma, trauma response, toxic parenting, parentified children, and children not having a voice. It is one I definitely will read again and looking forward to more T. Kingfisher.
