This book was a super quick read but it lacked some pretty key elements:
- World-building. I never felt like I was rooting for the heroine or her people or anything. Her mother both seem just as terrible as the king in Lera.
- Character development. I did not care about the main characters at all. And Em is just...stupid. If you are going to infiltrate a country by pretending to be someone else, at least do some research about that person and their country.
- Believable romance. "I'm here for vengeance and my sister! But this prince is really handsome...He has a nice smile." And boom! Romance. Ugh.
This book would benefit greatly from a lot more fleshing out.
