Somebody's Daughter by Marie Myung-Ok Lee

4.0

I'm pretty sure I read this in the pre-goodreads era. (There are only so many young adult books in my library system, so chances are good....)

The vivid portrayal of Korea was fascinating, but two narrators never works as well for me as one. I was also drawn out of the book by the weird sex --- aren't girl books supposed to at least pretend the protagonist has an emotional attachment to the guy(s) she's sleeping with?

In the end, the book felt too literary for me --- like it was written to be analyzed, not enjoyed. I still enjoyed, it not quite so much as I'd hoped to.
