Neon Gods by Katee Robert

5.0

After reading the prequel, Stone Heart, I wasn't entirely convinced I would enjoy the rest of the Dark Olympus series. I certainly wasn't anticipating this book to be a 5-star read, but I'm delighted to have been proven wrong. Neon Gods completely threw me away. It was indescribably wonderful. Although I don't think this was the most accurate retelling of Hades and Persephone, the remainder of the book undisputedly made up for it. I was expecting a spicy romance, however, I had not anticipated it to be so sweet and wholesome. (I'm not complaining; I entirely enjoyed it). He is without a doubt, my favourite version of Hades that I have come across thus far. Both within literature or on television. I loved that Hades had no hesitation to get down on his knees for Persephone. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to get started reading the remaining books of the series.

I’m rapidly reaching the point where I’d cut my chest open and dig my heart out just so I can present it to her. What is wrong with me? She’s leaving. She was always leaving. I never thought she’d take my beaten-up heart with her when she walked away."
