Women and Children First by Alina Grabowski
4.0
A small town is rocked when a local teenager has died. From there, Alina Grabowski explored the ripple effects of this tragedy through 10 different women’s stories. In some ways this read like inner-connected short stories, and that made the reading experience unique and interesting. It was slightly frustrating because some of the stories were more interesting than others, and sometimes, just when I was really starting to sink into a POV, the chapter would end and we’d switch gears.
Overall, the story got better as the book went on and the pieces started to fall into place and form the big picture. Grabowski certainly shows promise as a new author and I’ll be curious what she writes next!
