by Julie Buxbaum
read for Reading Challenge Champs: TBR Knockout !
Prompt: Coming-of-Age Novel
I loved reading a fictional take on this scandal.
This was a quick and enjoyable read. I liked the dual timeline, although it was difficult to differentiate at the start. It was fascinating to read Chloe’s naive perspective develop and change throughout the novel. Their family dynamic throughout the book was probably the best part for me.
I think Chloe's character could've been written better. It felt as if she really had no potential of college when it would've been more interesting if she was smart enough and could've made it on her own, but got accepted because of her parents' meddling. However, I enjoy reading "over-privileged, white girl, idiot" characters and their downfalls (her words, not mine).
