Synopsis:
Roksana is the daughter of the Queen of Shadows. Hailing from Moscow, Russia; she is a vampire slayer who has a kill list. But, inadvertently becoming the friend of some of the vampires wasn’t her plan, which has made her weak in following through in her mission and put her on the wrong side of her own mother.

In Coney Island, Elias Perry is there for the new vampire King’s wedding. Roksana, being the bride Ginny’s best friend, is also there and she wishes that Elias remembers the one and only time they met. A time he seems to have completely forgotten, conveniently. Especially after the events that have led to their present predicament.

Review:
The story starts in 2017 in Las Vegas where Elias is at a casino with his fellow members from the S.W.A.T team. That is when he sees her, Roksana. She is there with her friends for the bachelorette party of one of them. Roksana, who doesn’t let the darkness of being a vampire slayer consume her light. But a tragic turn of events forces her to evaluate her priorities.

He was twenty-eight and she twenty-one when they first met. Three years later, she is again off to a wedding. This time of her friend, Ginny the mortician, who is to wed Jonas the new vampire king. We’ve met these characters in Book One of the series. But she has learnt her lesson and is travelling with stakes now, even to a vampire wedding. Oooh…we get to meet Jonas and Ginny again, from [b:Reborn Yesterday|50609790|Reborn Yesterday (Phenomenal Fate, #1)|Tessa Bailey|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1581373759l/50609790._SX50_.jpg|75606302].

It was ingenious, the way the title was linked to the story or the story to the title. And what I loved more was the way the author revealed part of the mystery early-on to us readers, making me more supportive of both Elias and Roksana, and waiting for them to get together. Their joining is so erotic, burning the pages with their intensity. Later on, it was damn funny to see them getting jealous when someone else paid attention to the other, but of course, the hot consequences that followed were a bliss.

I loved to hate Roksana’s mother. Her cruelty knows no bounds, leading to quite the blood and gore. In any vampiric read, I am always surprised by the new elements that the author introduces to explain these creatures. Here, it was giving them certain powers as well as the concept of mating.

This is my first [a:Tessa Bailey|6953499|Tessa Bailey|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1370043116p2/6953499.jpg] and I can’t wait to read more of her books, starting with Reborn Yesterday. I think Tucker’s is the next story in this series, excited for that too!

Thank you to Social Butterfly PR for an e-ARC of the book.
