An Incomplete Revenge by Jacqueline Winspear

4.0

I realize it looks like I'm reading these books one after the other, but I'm really reading a few other books in between: usually taking a breather of one to two books between each Winspear. But those are usually books I've read before, so they don't appear in my reviews or timeline of books ....

I read a couple because the books are intense in some ways. They still count as escape reading for me -- but they do deal with current death and the ongoing destruction of past wars in a way that feels very true to the human spirit.

This one takes place in the country, with Maisie being asked to look into the background of a business her patron's business wants to acquire. In it she meets up with gypsies, and finds out what really happened in the village during the war, and what happened when the bomb dropped unexpectedly there ...

Healing is hard. Forgiving yourself is harder.
