Graceling by Kristin Cashore
5.0
What an absolute gem of a fantasy. Graceling is so incredibly layered and inspiring. The character development alone is worth the read, the world building almost unrivaled. I adore Katsa. I adore Po. I adore Bitterblue. But what I love most of all is the journey of self-discovery each of them embark upon and the empowerment they find in themselves and each other. Graceling is perhaps the first of its kind, the kind of YA literature that dug in deep to nuanced conversations about relationships and mental health, and my life is better for having finally read it.
