I'm Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
emotional
sad
slow-paced
So, so sad
A really interesting insight into the world of child acting, and also the ways in which behaviour that sounds like love and care can actually be abusive. It was a difficult read, and heavy, but important
I liked how the author always wrote from the perspective of the age she was in any given moment, trusting the reader to understand that she no longer supporting this viewpoint (e.g ‘calorie counting is great!’). I think this really came through in the audiobook as she reads it herself and can lay on the sarcasm
