Trick 'r Treat: Days of the Dead by Michael Dougherty

4.0

Trick R Treat is a collective project by Michael Dougherty ( Trick R Treat), writers Todd Casey and Zach Shields ( Krumpus), Marc Andreyko (Batwoman), and artists Fiona Staples ( Saga), Stephen Byrne (Buffy/Angel), Stuart Sayger (Death Ship), and Zid (Son of Merlin). The book is a four part story of that leads up to the filming sequel of Trick R Treat 2. The stories of Halloween throughout the ages from the medieval time period, the 1800s west, the streets of LA in the 1950s, to the time of Trick R Treat the original movie. All have to do with people against Halloween, its spirits, and the true meaning of the creatures and spirits that come out to haunt during halloween night. Each story stars a child character who meets with the spirits of halloween and understands the true meaning of why they are there. (SPOILER: the spirits are usually good, while the church going white men are usually messed up or corrupt in real life) This is a fun graphic novel for fans of the cult film Trick R Treat and movies of that genre and theme. I enjoyed the artwork that each part had to offer as well as the writing gave some depth to the storyline. This is a teaser leading up to the new movie Trick R Treat 2 that is still being processed as of this review. I look forward to seeing the new movie and was glad to have picked this book up. If you are a fan of horror, halloween, Lock & Key, graphic novels of the sort please check this novel out. Also, make sure to check out my comic review of this graphic novel at my youtube channel. Thanks and happy readings.
