I love the way the legend meets reality in this, how old meets new, how good meets evil. This is a novella but Roth doesn’t pull her punches on world building or characters or plot—even the romance is beautifully developed and timed so well with the rest of the story. There is so much imagery, and every bit drives the story forward in a fast-paced, intriguingly-intricate way. It’s the first book by Roth I’ve read since Divergent and l, honestly, don’t know why—excuse me while I push all her other books up on my TBR.
