Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

emotional reflective

2.5

this was one of my most anticipated reads back in 2021 and I’m just now reading it lol

As someone who loved Evelyn Hugo and Daisy jones….this was kinda mid.

This was basically daddy issues: the book.
In the beginning I was intrigued by the sibling dynamics but later I found myself more times than not skimming over pages of each characters struggles/wants and just wanted to be done with it. I did not like the writing in the sense that it was strange and overly sweet at times. Like why am I being told things are happening and not being shown of said events occurring.

Idk what I was expecting from this but it was very underwhelming. That ending made me roll my mf eyes. Also the way everything is wrapped up all nice with a bow was just too hallmark-y

I was thinking of giving this like 3 stars but the more I think about it, that’s probably too generous and I know I’ll probably never read this again. However I’ve heard good things about Carrie Soto is Back so I might pick that one up.
