Stealing Home by Grace Reilly

Did not finish book. Stopped at 80%.
Oof, I think BookTok struck out here.

I stopped reading at 80% because I just didn't care anymore. To be fair, I had skimmed a lot of it up until that point anyway but after the scene with Mia's family, I just couldn't be bothered.

One of my biggest issues is that Mia and Sebastian's voices sounded the same. Yes, it was easy to differentiate their PoVs because Sebastian was better developed but at their essence, they felt very similar. It made it hard to connect to the characters and care about their worries and concerns.

Like a lot of reviewers, I agree that Sebastian is better developed when compared to Mia. I think his characterization leans too heavily into the trope but on the whole, he's okay. Mia, on the other hand, is a disaster. It's like the author couldn't decide who Mia is deep down and ended up obliterating the trope. It feels like Mia's trying too hard and it turned me off.

A general annoyance: why is this book so long? It felt rambling and repetitive. I think it lost itself somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, this was my first Grace Reilly. I don't know if I'll pick up another one.
