The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl by Issa Rae

3.0

Maybe if I knew more about Issa Rae, I would have enjoyed this more? It was a book club selection, and I've so far consumed very few pieces of media Issa Rae produced.

As it was, it was fine. I have no specific complaints. It just didn't wow me. It was humorous but not hilarious, informative but not particularly educational. A solid three stars from me - I wouldn't recommend it on my own, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading it, either.

If you follow Issa Rae, you might enjoy it more.
