This is my first read by Tate James; Honey Trap is book #1 in the Guild series. It's a romantic suspense and interconnected series set in the Shadow Grove world. I've heard nothing but amazing things about the "Maddison Kate" and "Hades" series, and I hope to read these series in the near future! First the title, then reading the blurb doubled up my curiosity; I just knew I had to read it! Okay... now I understand the hype surrounding Tate James' work!! And it's well deserved! Oh my goodness! I have no words; I'm utterly speechless! This book blew me away!!
The storyline is absolutely incredible; there are no heroes or heroines: it's a book featuring *very* dangerous characters. Characters who have psychopath traits: criminals, mercenaries/assassins and computer hackers?! It was an exhilarating experience; the pace of the events gave me an adrenaline rush. I don't want to reveal the storyline too much; it's better to go in blind because, believe me, some of the events took me by surprise. Especially when I reached halfway, the sudden drastic change of events was amazing!! The elements worked so well with each other: kidnapped/taken, Stockholm syndrome, deception and mind games with a slight twist of RH. And don't get me started on the ending!! Ahh... I need to read book #2 ASAP!! Overall, I will be definitely reading more from Tate James' work!
Danny is a "kickass/badass" female MC; she's deadly and lethal. And if you are on her radar, nothing or more like no one will save you. After all, Danny never failed a mission. Even when she was in a life or death situation, Danny managed to turn it to her advantage. She's savvy and a quick thinker; she can easily adapt to any situation. Looks sometimes can be deceiving. Hence, don't let Leon's appearance or tech wiz skills fool you; he is mysterious and just as dangerous as Danny. Leon has an obsessive personality: his new obsession, Danny. For Leon, the "Guild" is all he has ever known, and he would never go against or question the Guild's orders until now.
