If you are looking for any 2 of military fantasy, a solid mystery, an crea ive hard magic system, or an Interesting take on fantasy room you have your book. It may not rise to the towering heights of any of these in the shadow of lighting does much more right then wrong. 
I think I will look back on this book with even more fondness and the glass immortals series gets written out. The bones of a solid series are here, it needs to be fleshed out.
