The Summer You Found Me by Elizabeth O'Roark

Troubled heroine finds redemption and true love

I am a sucker for messed-up heroines and the men who love them. Kate has had far more bad luck than is fair for one person to endure. When unrelenting grief pushes her into addiction, she has no one who looks out for her. No one, except Beck, who's always been on the periphery as her husband's friend. The book is both their love story and Kate's redemption arc after all the destruction she has caused. She learns to forgive herself and others, and finally learns to let go and move on from the loss so she can build something new. Great characterization, beautiful writing, and a wonderful book overall.
