The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians: True Stories of the Magic of Reading
by Matt Eversmann, James Patterson
A collection of real-life anecdotes from librarians and booksellers. First and foremost, they love their jobs. They love books, they love helping people find books that they love, and they love talking about books with their patrons. They want to read and want to share what they’re reading with others. They love being a part of the community and helping out. They love getting people excited about books, and especially getting kids excited about books. They love working with authors and meeting authors. They are concerned about the rising book bans in the U.S., but they are thrilled that readers are pushing back against them.
A fun collection of personal anecdotes, though they are very stream-of-consciousness and feel repetitive at times. Also, there were different sections like the stories were supposed to be separated by theme, but there didn’t really seem like any organization at all. But still a fun read.
(I read this in small chunks while reading other books to break it up a little).
