And Then Forever by Shirley Jump

4.0

I RECEIVED AN ADVANCE COPY OF THIS BOOK FROM THE AUTHOR THROUGH NETGALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW!!

This actually very different from the author's other works that I have read. It has a much more serious feeling to it, which makes it feel more realistic as well. It was shorter than I would have liked, but the story was fully fleshed out and felt complete. The introduction of the couple from the next book didn't overwhelm the plot of this one completely, it actually made a good bit of sense to me to have it in this story.

Kincaid and Darcy are star-crossed lovers that wind up conceiving a child together when they were young. There is a lot of deception that happens in this story, and a lot of mistakes made by Kincaid as well. In the end, they wind up finding their way back to one another. I didn't like the deception angle that much, but it made the story very realistic.

The setting was part quirky, part "I've seen it done before", but it did lend the story character and served to isolate the people on the island into their own small town. It did remind me a little of Marie Force's Gansett Island, but it had its own charm as well.

All in all, this is a book I would pay the money for, and I am very interested to continue the series!
