This book was definitely unique. I can't say I've really read another one like it. I loved the world-building. The pace was satisfying and ramped up towards the end. However, it was pretty repetitive overall. The same points or ideas came up over and over, which I found irritating. I also felt like the explanation for why the parasites were so successful in their takeover and why they were "rivals" was lazy and incomplete.
