The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

3.0

There’s something about the prose I didn’t like. I can’t really explain it but it feels clumsy, unstructured, rushed, like all the narrators were under duress while making a statement to a police officer. I don’t know if there is anything like a novel being too fast paced?

It felt like I was on this train and it’s going to take hours before I reach my destination and I’m stuck with a drunk who won’t stop narrating her life story.
Worse, she’s an unreliable narrator, she’s jumbling everything together and I feel bad for her and at the same time I want to scream at her because why are you so messy, why do you have a coconut head?
Despite my irritation, there’s a part of me invested in her story and I want her to get to the end it, even though I already suspected the ending the moment she started her story. Do you get?
