do i feel kinda bad that i didnt love this more that i 'should'? well yes but i also have my reasons

so the good:
- the first 30 chapters had me HOOKED
- i loved abbe faria and found myself missing his character as the story progressed
- eugenie and louise getting their happy ending
- the mercedes and dantes confrontation scene (pure cinema)


the bad:
- the pace of the story took a huge hit as soon as we set foot in rome. my goodness, it grinded to a halt. and personally, i struggled to recover from that
- hand on my heart, i do believe this novel could be a little shorter
- whatever was going on with dantes and haydee's relationship. did not enjoy it one bit actually. he initially buys her as a slave. and then treats her like a foster daughter. and THEN realises he's in love with her.
- poor mercedes man
