The Billionaire Boss Next Door by Max Monroe

3.0

3-3.5 stars.

Listened to this on audio. The narrators were ones I've heard before and I liked them but there were little things that annoyed me with the audio. First off the female narrator had weird pauses and spoke a little slower than the male narrator. And I wasn't a fan of the male narrator's female voice, it started to grate near the end of the audiobook.

As for the story, this was similar to other Max Monroe books with the amount and kind of humor it had, which I love. However I wasn't swept away with the romance. They don't even go on a date (and it didn't even start as a date...with each other) till 75-80% through the book. Yea, they are attracted to each other but besides having some banter-y interactions I didn't feel a lot of chemistry between them. By the end I mostly saw them as friends but not as lovers.

I wasn't really that satisfied with the office romance trope here. Yes, he's her boss but besides a couple "oops" moments, they only had 1 day where they were dating and still working together.

Overall this was fun but not one I'll really remember, which is sad because I usually remember their books pretty well.
