The Turn of the Screw
by Henry James
A masterful designed ambiguous tale.
On the surface it’s a gothic ghost story about a young governance tending two young children on a remote estate, with slowly building tension, uneasiness and fear.
Alternatively it a story about a truly unreliable narrator who lets her imagination and suppressed emotions get the best of her and causes the dead of an innocent child as a result.
