Bingo Love Volume 1: Jackpot Edition by Gail Simone, Marguerite Bennett, Tee Franklin

4.0

This has been on my list for a while and I’m so SOO HAPPY I finally got to read it! I wanted to incorporate more alternative format books into the rotation: graphic novels, poetry, essay collections. All reading is beneficial but different formats provoke different emotions.

For this story, the imagery was VERY important. Representation is key but it’s a lot harder to deny something when it’s in your face. Bingo Love was groundbreaking in SO MANY ways!! Not only is it about two queer women in love but two older women, two older BLACK women!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything remotely close this and it’s a shame but that’s what makes this so special ❤️
