Moon Called
by Patricia Briggs
3.5ish - I mostly enjoyed this as a quick fun read. My main frustration was with the way the main character was supposed to be unaware of certain things, but in first-person narration, that meant she had to describe them happening but then be oddly dumb about what they meant. Still, that only happened occasionally, and primarily to do with just two personal relationships, so the rest of the story didn't suffer. I liked the world-building. The convention of having a protagonist who's been a part of the otherworldly culture but is now an outsider is pretty useful for getting around awkward exposition. This book is already blending with "Rosemary and Rue" for me because of that particular similarity. But like that series, I'd read more in this one.
