The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
4.0
I loved this book. However it is a 4 star review for me because as much as I personally adored it, it didn’t quite hit the mark for reasons I cannot pin point to be a 5 star read I’d recommend to every person I meet.
The prose is wonderfully done and it certainly read differently to what I expected.
*spoiler* I was expecting to read each twins experience each alternating chapter, instead each part of the book explored a different point of view. *end of spoiler*
It explored so many themes and topics I didn’t expect with some characters but I felt it was still beautifully done in that regard. I’d definitely reread this and loved that the book never quite went where I expected.
The lives of the Vignes twins is not one that anyone expects and sometimes… that’s okay. Not everyone is who we think they are.
