Right Within: How to Heal from Racial Trauma in the Workplace by Minda Harts

4.0

This book acts as a self help/ memoir. It is a relief to see a published book about workplace racial trauma that so many of us as black women have and will experience. I’ve also had similar experiences and it felt good to see this published and validated. I’ve met other black women who have had the same experiences and have seen how much it has impacted their mental AND physical health.

I would definitely recommend this book for white accomplices and allies who want to better understand the perspective and experiences of black women in the workplace and to better show up for them. I like that she acknowledges that this is her experience alone. However, the fact that she makes 6 figures and works in corporate is and will be unrelatable to the many of women who don’t make nearly the same.

I don’t particular find self help books…helpful, and this was no different mostly. But it can be a good guide.
